immortality

Today I stood in a room and thought alot about life and death.

I have my own issues with the creator, up to and including questions involving his/her/its very existence.

In short, if you want me to tell you if there’s life after death, you’ve come to the wrong guy.

But here’s what I decided today:

If you live a good life, a full life, a life that touches dozens and hundreds of others….   well, you give a piece of yourself to those dozens and hundreds of others. Something they carry with them. Something that they -unknowingly- pass on to still others. And so on and so on, et cetera, et cetera.

And, in that way, some part of us can live forever. We don’t get to decide what part of us it is, and we don’t get to decide where it goes, but if you live a good life – a full life – we can take comfort in the fact that our hearts will be heard from in years to come.

And that’s really something.

  1. I think pretty much the same thing. You’re a good egg, Plummer, I’m glad my Emily married you. 🙂
