tap, tap, tap….
Hello?
Is anyone there???
Man it’s gotten dusty in here. Hot too; the air is pretty stale.
Oh well. Like I say: ever forward. Time to clear out the virtual cobwebs and turn on the e-air conditioner and forge boldly ahead.
Old business first. Scotland.
I meant to write up a full recap as soon as we returned, peppering it with pictures and witty anecdotes of our time in the highlands. However, it turned out that we hit the ground running as soon as we got home and haven’t really had a lot of time to relax, let alone blog about things here on the wild wild world of web.
The first weekend after we got back, we rented a storage unit near our house and spent the next two days funneling boxes of stuff from our house to storage. The unit (ha!) is already helping us organize and decide what stuff comes to Burlington with us and what stuff stays.
The next weekend my mom, stepdad, and brother in law came to town to help us paint walls, cut and paint trim, install new lighting fixtures, install a new kitchen faucet, and powerwash the exterior. All this in preparation for putting the house on the market.
This weekend, we were in Burlington looking at apartments. I think we found a good one. The application is in, we’re just waiting to hear back about credit checks, background checks, and the like. We saw a few decent apartments too, and one that was a real piece of crap. We even got stood up by one landlord. Jerk.
Our realtor comes today to see the house and (I think) fill out the paperwork to put it on the market.
Other than that, I finally clued my boss in to the goings on. My last day will be August 3rd.
I’ve been surprised and frankly a little touched by some of the comments I’ve gotten from coworkers who’ve learned I’m leaving. It doesn’t make me regret leaving, but it does make me wish – on some of the really bad days over the last few years – that I’d known how appreicated I am.
…ok, fine. One Scotland pic for now. Snay, I think you might recognize this castle. There can be only one, you know.
I was about to ask if you’d bumped into Duncan MacLeod, and I see you read my mind!!!!!
Gawdamn if I’m not totally jealous.
